The Challenger Class Association represents the Challenger Trimaran, a single-sail racing dinghy with a PY handicap of 1173 that fits easily into most club slow handicap fleets. The boat is fast (nearly 14 knots recorded) and easy to handle but takes skill and concentration to beat other Classes. It is designed to be raced by a solo sailor sitting in a central seat - so no hiking or leaping across the boat - and it is almost impossible to capsize. When the wind is up, we are as fast as a planing Laser, so we call the Challenger a Laser-with-stabilizers!
