The Andrew Simpson Foundation is continuing the legacy of Andrew “Bart” Simpson, an Olympic Champion and America’s Cup Sailor who tragically passed away in 2013. Andrew passionately believed that everyone should have the chance to try sailing and enjoy the many benefits that it brings.
Absolutely everything the ASF does is driven by the belief that all young people have the ability to excel and succeed in life and work. The ASF believe that the challenges of sailing and watersports do this by promoting health and well-being and building essential personal skills.
The ASF provide opportunities for everyone to get out on the water and we do this by delivering a range of key charitable activities, further enabled through fundraising and partnerships.
Our Key Charitable Activities
Our ethos is sailing for ALL. Our charitable activities range from community sailing programmes to participation events and training, all delivered as part of our work within our main focus areas: physical and mental health and wellbeing, careers and skill training and regular participation.
As just one of our charitable activities, Bart’s Bash is an exciting event for the Andrew Simpson Foundation and the worldwide sailing community. It can be used to encourage participation at your venue, introduce new people to our sport and give people the excitement of entering a global sailing event. Since its inception, the funds raised via Bart’s Bash have helped to provide thousands of young people with the opportunity to access regular sailing sessions and transform lives for the better.
How You Can Help
Help us raise £20,000 in 2025 and get more young people out on the water.
Since its inception, Bart’s Bash has raised funds to help a vast number of sailing projects around the world. Participating sailing venues can raise funds for the ASF and/or their own sailing club venues and community projects. Funds raised directly for the ASF will enable us to transform the lives of young people.
Fundraising aims
- £35 covers the cost of one Discover Sailing Session for one young person
- £150 supports the running of one term of Sailing Club or Race Club
- £600 Gives one aspiring young leader the chance to access our year-long programme
- £2,100 pays for one block of 6 sessions of Aiming High for 10 young people
- £8,400 allows 40 young people to benefit from the Sail Fit programme
- Purchase new equipment for your club or venue
- Reach out to local communities
- Train one, teach many!
