“What a wonderful end to Summer 2023, our 10th Annual Bart’s Bash brought together over 120 people from the Weymouth and Portland community, a brilliant event to mark 10 years of transforming young lives through sailing.
It was amazing to see such a large mixed fleet with sailors from all backgrounds, kids to adults, beginners to Olympians all taking part as equals out on the water. This event has highlighted how welcoming and accepting the sport is as we welcomed sailors from Chesil Sailability.
Even from the shore the amount of participants was astonishing, experiencing the buzz as people arrived to sign up for the race and enjoyed live music thanks to local musicians. We have ArtWey to thank for bringing local artwork down to the centre, the sailing academy ensured all were fed and watered before and after the race and barefoot bouncers provided inflatable obstacles to keep the kids entertained. Local supporters such as Apollo Marine, Moatt Sails and boatfolk offered prizes for the raffle draw.
The combination of all the above meant we were able to raise over £2,000 for the Andrew Simpson Foundation, thank you to all who attended.”
